Still searching for that elusive bike. But on a serious note, I have got my eye on a pretty lowish mileage bike. It'll do me just fine, standard condition, and seems a genuine good buy. But the paint schemes one of those garish 90's shell suit type things. Would this put you off buying it? I know, I can respray it, but thats extra cost, so would you buy it?

If it’s the bike you want and suits your needs go for it, why worry about the paint work, you cannot see it when your riding it and it will stand out in the crowd, like you say in time you could repaint it……. You could also get some shell suit style leathers to match the bike

click here Bit pricey but its low miles, standard, not far away and Andi likes the colours. But it'd do for now, cheap to insure, quick enough, and it ain't as heavy as me Ace. Already found some gold spots and brake lines. So Lee from memory didn't you fit blue spots to YZF forks? What bit did you grind off please? Me first clicky and it works.

Caliper mount needs a semicircle cut out of it to accomodate the top blue /gold spot housing. Stig has pictures on the exup1000 forum.
It took me 10 minutes per side with the grinder (& fil to finish) once the forks were off.

Whoa there Trigger. Not been to see it in the flesh. Maybe next week I'm on holiday. And after reading PB's set up guide, evidently YZF750's need money spending on their suspension to make them handle. On standard set up they have a tendency to run wide. Bugger, damn n blast. But a viewing first me thinks before anything happens. Maybe a cheap R6 as well to look at.

My FZR1000 runs wide too or it could just be me. The 400 doesn't run wide.
If you've got 2K to spend then why not a 1999-2000 R1?
Or about 1.5K can get you a Kawasaki 636
1.3K buys 01 (fully adjustable YZF750 front end, blue spots, proper ohlins shock, etc, etc.) plus a sniff about at my spares box (I have tail panels if you want the dual seat for Andi but my seat is cut down). Get hold of a nice bodykit or get a respray and it'll be mint.

It's just a thought and as you know it's not really problem to store it for a while. I'll MOT it, so it will have an OEM chrome exhaust on it or you can have athe stubby and I'l put my best bodywork on it. It's not mint but it's pretty good and just needs a bit of touch up on the decals.
What I'm meaning with the seat is that I cut the back off the seat to put that mad horn under the seat unit (the seat wasn't exactly mint).
I remember that creedxup had a mint 89-90 seat for sale. I did think about buying it but I'd had a bit of a spat with him at the time so didn't bother.
Other than that you know the bike's history and can see it/test it at your leisure (note lack of MOT/tax at the moment).
But see how you get on with the YZF and give me a shout if you warm to this idea..
